There’s always something fun happening in Bakersfield!
The city hosts horse shows all year round, and, every spring, it plays host to one of California's Scottish Games and Clan Gatherings.
In summer, the locals celebrate the Greek Festival, as well as the Lowrider National in the Kern County Fairgrounds.
The Memorial Day weekend brings along The Kern County Basque Festival, a 3-day long festival with music, dance, delicious food and handball games.
March is the time of the annual March Meet racing event, which dates back to the U.S. Fuel and Gas Finals, in 1959.
Twice a year, a Native Gathering on the California State University Bakersfield campus at Runner Park takes place, and, in mid to late September, the city hosts the Kern County Fair, which highlights the city’s agricultural produce, with a rodeo, concerts and a traditional carnival.
Other major Bakersfield events include the Bakersfield Jazz Festival, celebrated in May, and the Wine Fest, which, in 2011, is set to take place on November 19.
